Poetry Center Digital Archive Reception

Beginning April 21, 2011, The Poetry Center's Archive is going digital. Significant portions of our earliest and rarest audio collection, 1954 to 1959, will be made available on the world wide web for listening and download. Our 1950's collection documents the world-renowned San Francisco poetry scene, featuring many of the earliest recordings by outstanding poets from the Bay Area and across the US and beyond, alongside landmark Poetry Center appearances by celebrated literary giants William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, and Langston Hughes. This project, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, is in collaboration with DIVA (Digital Information Virtual Archive) at San Francisco State University.
