Tea will be prepared in the Omotesenke tradition by Mrs. Michiko Nakagawa (Tea name: Souyou) and Dr. Midori Niwa McKeon, Professor of Japanese (Tea name: Souzui). They are tea teachers certified by the Omotesenke Fushin'an, Kyoto, Japan. The Omotesenke is the main line of the Sen family directly descended from the great tea master Sen Rikyu (1522-1591).
Participants will be seated around a sunken hearth, observe the procedures for making tea, and enjoy Japanese sweets and a bowl of matcha (powdered green tea) in an authentic tea room.
Five seats per session.
