Professor Hintikka is celebrated as the founder of formal epistemic logic and of game semantics for logic. He also writes about major figures in the history of philosophy. In this talk at SFSU, he takes a new look at his influential analysis of Descartes's famous "Cogito" proof. Hintikka was awarded the Rolf Schock Prize in philosophy and logic by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences "for his pioneering contributions to the logical analysis of model concepts, in particular the concepts of knowledge and belief".
