Lisa Marie Rollins, a PhD Candidate UC Berkeley in African Diaspora Studies and the Executive Director of AFAAD Adopted and Fostered Adults of the African Diaspora will examine the global politics of transracial/international adoption in a multidisciplinary talk that includes excerpts from her acclaimed solo theater performance, Ungrateful Daughter and from her dissertation research which examines the way the discourse of adoption, race, power and kinship collide to reveal a particular understanding of African diasporic identity. Refreshments provided.
