This one-day symposium brings together scholars and legal experts to discuss the history of the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, its relationship to Cuba and Cubans before and after the Cuban revolution, and the recent situation of those detained there as part of the U.S. "War on Terror." Participants include Jana Lipman, Stephen Truitt, Almerindo Ojeda, and Elizabeth Campisi. Each begins their talk on the hour. The symposium concludes with a round table discussion with the four speakers at 5 p.m.
